New Meadows River Open Oyster Farm Day

It’s hard to beat spending time on the water in the summertime here in Maine! Join us in celebrating on the New Meadows River for our 1st ever Maine oyster open float day. The New Meadows River is home to eagles, osprey, seals, lobsters, fish & most recently oysters!

Our New Meadows River Shellfish Coop, a collection of twelve oyster farms aim to produce some of the finest oysters you’ll find anywhere.  As your local Maine oyster farmers, we’re on the water year-round and we would love for you to come see and enjoy it too.

On Saturday, July 31st we invite you to kayak, motor or even swim up and down the river to experience our world with us! Just look for our signs identifying each of our 12 family owned & operated oyster farms. From 11:00 to 2:00, farms denoted in orange will have the oyster farmers themselves onsite to meet, greet & learn about our trade!

Don’t have a boat? We invite you to walk the shore at any of the several conserved lands and give us a holler! We’ll be on our farms, ready to talk about the river, how we grow our shellfish, teach you how to shuck an oyster and talk recipe ideas, or just get to know one another; after all, we’re all neighbors.
