Summer 2020 with flexible scheduling to support social distancing. The work boat will then be sold and all proceeds will go to the Holbrook Community Foundation at a date to be announced.
Ann Flannery, local boat builder and woodworker (and board member of Holbrook Community Foundation), leads a boat building class for youth ages 9 – 16yrs. In 2018 & 2019 Ann and the kids, along with help from adults in the community, met on successive Sunday afternoons from February – May and each year built a 13’6” rowing skiff. This year, 2020, the class is building a 12’ work boat. The original “Riverside work skiff” was designed and built by Paul Bryant of Newcastle Maine. With permission, Ann and a colleague measured and took the lines off the work boat. They lofted the boat and from those drawings the class is replicating the Riverside work skiff. It is a pram in style and will have a rowing station as well as accept a small outboard motor. The class aims to launch the boat this Summer, 2020 on August 1st at the high tide at Holbrooks, Cundy’s Harbor.
